BOTOX is an injectable product that helps reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles, those lines, and creases that form as a result of facial movements. BOTOX is most commonly used to treat crow’s feet (tiny lines at the corners of your eyes), forehead lines and frown lines between your brows, and tiny lines around the edges of your lips. In addition to reducing the appearance of lines, BOTOX also is used in some patients to help gently lift the brow.
When we smile, frown, or make other facial expressions, nerve signals “tell” the facial muscles to contract. These contractions tug on the overlying skin, causing it to fold and wrinkle. Over time, the lines become more “etched” into your skin so that they’re visible even when you’re not making an expression. BOTOX works by blocking the nerve signals that cause muscles to contract so lines and wrinkles can’t form.
Yes; in fact, many people opt for both BOTOX and fillers to treat dynamic and static wrinkles (wrinkles that form as a result of gravity, genetics, and other factors). Using both BOTOX and fillers allows you to treat lines and wrinkles throughout your face so you can enjoy a more rested, more rejuvenated, more youthful appearance, all without the risks, costs, or downtime of surgery.
You’ll begin to see results soon after treatment, typically within a few days, with maximum results appearing at about two weeks after your treatment. You may have some minor swelling in the injection site immediately after your injections, but this will resolve within an hour or so. It’s important not to rub the area immediately after treatment to avoid displacing the BOTOX.
You can expect your results to last about three to four months. Once results begin to fade, you can have additional treatments to ensure your results stay optimized. Dr. Fuchs will work with you to design a custom treatment plan that helps you look your best.
The needles used in BOTOX treatment are very thin - much slimmer than the needles used for vaccinations. As a result, most patients experience only a little “pinch” during injections, and some say they experience virtually no discomfort. Plus, treatment takes just a few moments in each area.
